The goal is to complete as many cases and stop as many crimes as possible. You'll have to switch between being on foot and driving in your car. Missions can vary from car chases, to bomb defusing, to taking down armed suspects. You'll only be rewarded for the missions you complete, some of which may have a time limit tracked on the side of the screen. If time runs out or if you take too much damage, you'll fail the mission and have to reset.
Before you start, you can go to the garage on the main menu to change your car. You can unlock other cars with enough cash and each one will offer different stats. After you choose your car, you can customize your officer as well as what weapons they carry which will also require cash. After you're done, the game can start and you'll spawn on a random sidewalk. By driving around and looking at the mini-map in the corner, you can spot radio transmissions. Collect these to get your assignments and then do your best to complete them.
Tips and Tricks
Since you'll need to alternate between driving and being on foot, take your free time to explore and get a feel for the movement. Go around the city to get an idea of the layout and practice with your various weapons. Missions won't start until you accept them which gives you a lot of time.
