You know, the original zombies came to be because of magic, but we've since left that behind for more scientific origins like in Maze of Infection. As the story goes, there's a massive corporation that seems to have no issues with conducting biological experiments in unethical waves. Unsurprisingly, one of their concoctions gets carelessly released into the public and quickly spreads among the people turning them into mindless cannibalistic killing machines. You are a janitor for said corporation who survived by hiding in a closet and must now find your way out of the building which is now infested with zombies. Well, technically, disinfecting is part of your job description.
About Maze of Infection
Zombies have lost a lot of the factors that made them scary but they can still be a threat when there are lots of them in closed spaces. Since this game is trapping you in a maze, it looks like the undead have the field advantage. Your only concern is to escape so bashing heads in should only be a last resort considering how vulnerable and not-a-trained-soldier you are. Still, you need to be resourceful and take risks if you hope to make it to the exit in one piece. You are just a human and all a zombie needs is a nice bite to quickly change your status.
How to Play
Maze of Infection is a 2D top-down zombie game about fighting your way out of a building using the mouse and keyboard.
Controls
- Cursor - Look/Aim
- Left Mouse Button - Attack/Fire
- W/Up Arrow - Move Up
- S/Down Arrow - Move Down
- A/Left Arrow - Move Left
- D/Right Arrow - Move Right
The goal is to reach the exit on the given floor, indicated by a steel hatch. Your weapon stats are shown in the bottom left corner of the screen and the map (if you have one) appears in the bottom right. If a zombie gets too close, they will grapple you and it'll be game over.
Before you start, you can choose which floor you want to start on. Each floor will start you in a different room. While making your way around, you can try to find a map to reveal the layout of the floor. You can also pick up weapons and ammo while walking around. Melee weapons will break after a certain number of uses and firearms are useless without ammo. Zombies will advance toward you once they detect you and can be dispatched with shots or melee attacks. The exit hatch will be highlighted as a green dot on the map.
Tips and Tricks
This is a risky zombie game since all it takes is one hit to end your run. You should do your best to find the map as soon as possible and then take a direct route to the hatch. Zombies aren't very fast but their numbers and positions can herd you into a corner if you're not careful.
